This served as the anchor to ensure there was equal

Distribution of power between the states and the nation

It enabled states to retain power, prevent consolidation

And when we say “states”, we mean “nation states”

Jefferson claimed his nation was VA, mine’s PA

My patriotism came long before the US fusion

Want to see how we felt then check the European Union

All these different regions with a bunch of tension and aggression

Expressing their discontent in joining up with competition 

 They liked their independence didn’t want to sacrifice it 

Sentenced to eternity of discontent to be united

And we’re still fighting over the nature of our rights and

Some states apply it to their right to be tyrants

Human rights violations coming at the state level

So the diversified nation puts the pressure on the federals

To take control and handle their shit

Unless Trump’s president then we get the states to resist

It swings, swings, swings, like a pendulum

Depending president, determines where oppression’s coming from
